During the first year after birth, high-grade and bilateral VUR significantly increased the risk of recurrent UTI. Delayed contrast passage on the voiding cystourethrogram was significantly associated with an increased risk of recurrent UTI. (According to the VCUG protocol of our institution,we checked the delayed VCUG film at 3-5 minutes after the patient had remained in the supine position after complete emptying of the bladder).
